Dear friends, As we move deeper into 2023, at Love Supreme Projects, we focus on finding balance, finding the Yin to our Yang and creating space for practices that help with deep relaxation and calming the nervous system. We love our asana practice for its ability to strengthen, activate, tone and move the body. In a world where we love to do, create and activate, we also know that to heal and stimulate the immune system and the parasympathetic nervous system, we need to find balance through practices that allow us to be still, rest and make space for new ideas and thoughts.
Sometimes slowing down or changing the way we do things helps us have a new perspective. When we listen to loud 90's Hip Hop, we want to dance and jump around. When we listen to something delicate and beautiful, we may want to sit still and listen carefully. We can do an Ashtanga series and jump into a headstand, or we may sit quietly and focus on our breath.
One is not "better", and one is not "wrong", but both benefit different parts of our system. The title of Erich Schiffmann's bestselling book, Yoga: The Spirit and Practice of Moving Into Stillness, describes this symbiosis beautifully:
“When you experience the peace within you, you will spontaneously undergo a fundamental transformation in the way you think about yourself and how you see the world.”
