“With every true friendship, we build more firmly the foundations on which the peace of the whole world rests.” Mahatma Gandhi Love Supreme Projects celebrated its third birthday last week! Coming out of the pandemic, we set out to create a community of practice together, and wow, what a community we have built! Being born in Pakistan, moving to Switzerland as a young child, and then moving to America for college, I always felt like a citizen of the world, but also rootless. I spent years trying to find these roots, only to realise very recently, that what I was looking for all along was not roots, but rather a real community. This Love Supreme community is what I have always been in search of. In his parting prescription as the 21st U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy, left the nation with one key piece of advice: “Choose Community”. In his book, Together, he explains how we can reprioritize relationships, service, and purpose - the core pillars of community - in our daily lives to help build a healthier world for generations to come. It has been a joy to see so many relationships blossom over the last few years at Love Supreme Projects. One friendship in particular, between Edita and Sarah, I keep thinking about. They have been coming from the start and always go out of their way to thank the team and share their gratitude with all of us (which involves us eating a lot of chocolate :). I asked them if I could share their story and they said absolutely. In 2019, Edita lost her baby daughter, Era, when she was only a week old. Sarah got pregnant last year and practiced throughout her pregnancy. She had her baby, Joshua, six months ago. Sarah and her husband do not have family in London, so when her baby arrived, Edita cooked for her, (spanakopita was the winning dish) and watched Joshua so Sarah could practice. I just saw them both this morning after Huma’s class. Here’s to more relationships, service and purpose together! With enormous gratitude,
